Film Festival Locarno, Jannuzzi Smith

The poster is the traditional centrepiece the Festival’s annual promotional campaign. This year’s poster is the third in a series featuring a real leopard that – like an actor – plays different roles: in 2008 its sensual pose conjured up romance; in 2009, a growling predator on the verge of attack; and this year, the stylised figure of a leaping animal conjures action, movement and physicality. This year’s image will have a lasting presence as the Festival’s official new symbol. (Photograph by Tim Flach)
